High jumper Robbie Grabarz a won bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympics, helping Team GB to have their most successful Games for more than 100 years.
Robbie Grabarz’s first Olympic bronze medal came in the same year that he came first in the European Championships in Helsinki, where he jumped 2.31 metres.
Robbie’s career in athletics has been helped by National Lottery funding, which provides a personal allowance to enable him to train full time as well as paying for his coaching and support team, such as physiotherapists, medical staff and sports psychologists.

Born in Enfield and growing up in Cambridgeshire, Robbie took part in his first major competition, the European Junior Championships, in Lithuania, where he finished 18th.
He now lives in Birmingham to train with his coach Fuzz Ahmed.
Robbie said: “The support you get from the National Lottery in Olympic sports is fantastic and I have no doubt it has helped us to be as successful as we were in London 2012. Winning an Olympic medal in front of a home crowd was the most amazing moments of my life and I will always be grateful to everyone who helped me along the way, including everyone who has ever bought a Lottery ticket.”
