How Tom overcame anxiety and discovered his life’s calling
When Tom started high school, his anxiety was beginning to feel overwhelming. He was worried about not fitting in and struggling to make good friends. Then one day his mum brought home an excitable springer spaniel puppy and things began to turn around.
In 2017, inspired by his love of his dog and animals in general, Tom decided to go on a lambing course at St Fagans National Museum of History, near where he lives in South Wales. After receiving millions of pounds in National Lottery funding as part of a £30Million rejuvenation project, the museum celebrating Welsh historical lifestyle, culture and architecture has been extensively and beautifully redeveloped – and now offers a wide range of hands-on courses too.
Now in his final year of sixth form, Tom enjoyed the course so much it spurred him on to get more experience and apply to university to become a vet. And it’s thanks to National Lottery players like you that Tom and many others like him are able to dream big.
