Midwife delivers million-pound baby

Ruth Breen danced into her cheque presentation wearing her brand new Jimmy Choo heels. The midwife from Wigan had splashed out on the legendary shoes as a treat after her £1M EuroMillions UK Millionaire Raffle win.

Ruth checked her emails on her lunch break, saw the one from The National Lottery "I didn't think much of it as I have won a few pounds here and there before – in fact I won £25 just a few weeks ago which I was delighted with!"

"When I logged in to my account I actually couldn't believe my eyes…one millions pounds! I was in shock and had to call my manager over to look to check my eyes weren't deceiving me. I just kept counting the zeros over and over, there were so many of them it was phenomenal."

The mum of one plans to keep working despite, but will be making some big changes after her life-changing win. "I love my job, it’s hard work at times and can be long hours, but I feel it is a real privilege to do what I do and couldn't imagine giving it up. It really feels like a weight has just been lifted off my shoulders, I no longer have to worry. Money in the past has been tight, we've just moved to a new home and I can't tell you how fantastic it feels to be able to pay the mortgage off in one go. I can even now look to give my daughter a private education and the best possible start in life, it's amazing

And it was a stroke of luck that Ruth even got her ticket for this draw. "I play every so often through the website and when I saw the email about the EuroMillions jackpot it prompted me to click through and get a ticket. Without that I may never be walking around in Jimmy Choo’s now!"
