Panto star Dion’s EuroMillions win is ‘Dame’ good luck
Welsh actor Dion Davies has won a £55,086 prize after finding a winning EuroMillions ticket he left in his car 6 weeks earlier while performing in a pantomime. Oh yes he has!
Dion explained, “I needed to clean my car inside and out. It was in a terrible state after lots of journeys, so I took it for a professional valet. The guy asked me to take all of my belongings out before he started just in case he threw away something that was valuable! I’m so glad he did.”
Dion, from West Wales, found the winning ticket lodged in a sun visor he’d bought in Milford Haven. He took the ticket to a local shop where he was promptly told to call The National Lottery because it was a winner.
As soon as the amazing win was confirmed, Dion, his wife Ifana and a couple of friends headed out for a celebratory lunch.
Dion has played a pantomime dame at The Torch Theatre in Milford Haven every year since 2010. He has also appeared in BBC’s Torchwood and Sky’s Stella.
He is currently rehearsing a play he co-created called The Bet. It tells the story of the Welsh racehorse Norton’s Coin that entered the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 1990 as a 100-1 outsider, but managed to cross the finish line first.
Dion and Ifana have a 15-year-old son and the family are planning a trip to Italy this year. Dion is also hoping to indulge his passion for science-fiction by taking his son to Comic-Con in San Diego.
Dion said, “Would I have left the ticket in my car if I had cleaned it myself? Maybe, and I would have never claimed.”
