Single mum of four wins £14.5M on EuroMillions

“I’m a millionaire!!” screamed a lucky single mother from Shipley when she discovered she was the only UK EuroMillions winner from the draw on Friday 17th February – winning herself an incredible £14,509,500, enabling her to buy a dream home for her and her family.

Beverley Doran, 37, was checking her messages on her phone in bed on Saturday morning when she saw an email from The National Lottery. Having already won a fantastic £50 earlier that week playing Lotto, she was still feeling lucky and eagerly logged onto her account hoping to see a few more pounds from EuroMillions too.

Beverley explains: “I was still waking up when I logged into my account. I could see the jackpot amount but couldn’t work out what I’d won. Then I slowly realised it was one UK winner and that that person was me. It was taking a very long time to sink in. I jumped out of bed and burst into my eldest son’s bedroom. He was asleep but I was shouting “I’ve won the Euros! I’m a millionaire!” All he came back with was “What you on about?” It was crazy, my head was spinning and nothing made any sense! I tried to call my mum but she was in the shower. It was like a rollercoaster and still is to be honest!”

Home sweet home

Beverley, who is a carer for two of her children who have autism and whose current home is a council house, immediately started looking at possible homes to buy online. She even looked at a couple of properties on Saturday afternoon with a local estate agent. As well as a new home for the family, she is also considering buying a holiday home abroad where the children can unwind during school holidays.

Celebrating in style

Not one to waste time, and after a close friend suggested that she go to Harrogate for the rest of the weekend to celebrate, she packed her bags! One friend even lent her £1000 for a shopping spree.

Beverley said: “It was a brilliant weekend, we stayed in a four star hotel, ate off the ‘a la carte’ menu and drank £25 bottles of wine. I had a pedicure, Turkish bath and shopped like I’d never done before. I spent £500 alone on a personalised bracelet complete with five charms which tells my life story. I got charms for my children, for love and family and for my new wealth. And one that says “Sometimes you got to fall before you can fly” – I really believe that, I will wear it every day to remember this moment.”

The National Lottery has been changing the lives of winners and supporting good causes across the UK since 1994. In that time, there have been more than 7,400 new millionaires created and by playing The National Lottery you raise over £4 million for Good Causes every dayΔ.
