Dundee winner takes two minutes to retire after hitting the EuroMillions Mega Friday jackpot

A lorry driver from Dundee admits he barely thought twice about retiring after becoming a millionaire.

Raymond Storey had planned to retire in August 2015, but his plans changed when he became a EuroMillions Mega Friday winner.

Raymond checked his number over his breakfast cuppa. He said: “I am usually up early to start work at 4am, but as it was a Saturday I had a bit of a lie-in. I was in the kitchen making myself a cup of tea and I thought I would turn on the laptop in the kitchen to check my numbers. I found out I was a millionaire at 6am and I decided to retire two minutes later.”

He continued: “I’m a lucky man. It’s wonderful to know that I can enjoy my retirement secure with the freedom to do what I want. I’ve not decided to buy anything in particular – I’m just looking forward to living my life as I please. I’ll keep playing the Lottery though; it has been good to me so I’ll keep giving something back.”

In the EuroMillions Mega Friday draw on 28th November, 10 players won a guaranteed £1M and a trip of a lifetime to Australia, Peru or Brazil. Every Mega Friday winner has the choice of either taking the once in a life time prize or a cash alternative. Raymond chose to take the cash alternative, bringing his total win to £1,050,000.

The National Lottery has been changing the lives of winners and supporting good causes across the UK since 1994. In that time, there have been more than 7,400 new millionaires created and by playing The National Lottery you raise over £4 million for Good Causes every dayΔ.
