Gary and Michelle are streets ahead after £108,811 EuroMillions win

Gary, 47, and his wife, Michelle, 45, matched 5 main numbers plus 1 Lucky Star in the EuroMillions draw on 4th February 2022. The Newbury Rugby Club supporters have wasted no time making plans for their win. Gary said, “We’re cracking on – we’ve already had the builders around measuring up the kitchen.”

Michelle added, “It’s not everyone that celebrates an amazing win like this by planning a new downstairs loo, but I can honestly say, I’m over the moon!”

Gary and Michelle’s winning journey started when he bought a few extra Lucky Dip lines for the 4th February 2022 EuroMillions draw.

Gary said, “I have a direct debit set up on my account on national-lottery.co.uk so that I don’t miss a draw, but when the jackpot is huge, as it was on February 4th, I’ll treat myself to a few extra Lucky Dip tickets. In fact, one of my friends who knows I play called me on Friday to remind me there was a big jackpot and joked that I’d better get my tickets. Good job I did!”

The following morning Gary was in bed browsing the Six Nations news when he saw 3 emails from The National Lottery, each alerting him to a win. Logging into his account, he could only see 2 wins for £3.20 each.

Gary said, “I didn’t have my reading glasses on so I was squinting at the phone, but I was bemused, so went back to my emails and sure enough there were 3 alerting me to 3 wins. I logged into my National Lottery account again and that’s when I noticed a message across the top, ‘Congratulations, you’ve won £108,811’.

Michelle, who was still dozing, was woken by her husband holding his phone to her face and shouting ‘look, look, look!’”

Gary said, “The lady from The National Lottery called me back a little later to take me through the next steps and as she once again confirmed our win, the tears started rolling down my face. My son gave me a hug, then the 3 of us had the best hug ever.”

The family are looking forward to some fun times (as well as a new kitchen). Gary said, “It really is amazing, even now it’s hard to describe how surprised and immensely grateful I am for this win.

“We already consider ourselves very lucky. We have fun involving ourselves with the local community, whether with Newbury Rugby Club or Michelle’s work with West Berks Roller Skating Club, but this really is the icing on the cake.”
