EuroMillions syndicate winners Brooklands primary school teachers

Teachers add up to a million

For once the shouting and screaming came from inside the staff room at Brooklands Primary School, as they celebrated their £1 million win.

Head teacher, Christine Davy, said, "There was plenty of shrieking. I think we actually gave our more boisterous Year 6 a run for their money!"

The 'Team Brooklands' syndicate play EuroMillions every so often and were only in this draw thanks to an £18 win the previous week. Now they are each marking down a £43,478.26 win.

We are a really close, happy, hardworking team and being able to share this experience together has been the icing on the cake.

With the reality of the win settling in, the syndicate members are busy planning what to do with their unexpected windfall.

For many, the money means exciting, and in some cases exotic, family holidays with destinations including Australia, Bali and Italy. Home renovations, a BMW, a couple of dishwashers and acres of new carpeting are also topping the list, while local estate agents should expect to be busy.

While some are spending, others are saving. Ken Dodd, who has been teaching at Brooklands Primary School for a decade, said: "I've no plans to spend the money, but it's definitely a very welcome addition to my pension pot and gives me greater peace of mind. This has been an amazing experience and it’s been great seeing some of my younger colleague’s reactions knowing that for them this is going to be truly life-changing."

The National Lottery has been changing the lives of winners and supporting good causes across the UK since 1994. In that time, there have been more than 7,400 new millionaires created and by playing The National Lottery you raise over £4 million for Good Causes every dayΔ.
