Lichfield barman toasts his £100Thousand National Lottery win
Bar manager Dan Cater has poured the perfect tonic after winning the top prize of £100,000 on the Monopoly Gold Instant Win Game from The National Lottery.
The 39-year-old who played and won via the National Lottery app, is now £100,000 richer and can’t wait to treat his family with a holiday and a deposit for a house.
Dan’s winning journey began earlier in the week after scooping an initial £5 on Monopoly Gold. On Friday 30th August 2024, back at home after spending the evening with his family at his neighbour’s house, Dan decided to play again – getting the shock of his life when the winning notification popped up on his phone.
After excitedly shouting ‘I’ve won!’ and waking up his wife, Kayleigh, the stunned couple headed back over to their neighbours to celebrate their fabulous win with a bottle of prosecco. Dan said, “Considering I’m a barman, I still struggled to pour without spilling, I was shaking that much.”
The next morning, Dan called The National Lottery to claim his prize. The timings of the win couldn’t have been better – Dan was off at the weekend to celebrate his sixth wedding anniversary with his wife and their four young children: three girls and a boy.
Dan said, “We’ve never had that much money, but this is a game-changer. To be able to put a deposit down on a house is just amazing. I haven’t played The National Lottery very much but I always thought that I would win when I did play. Winning feels brilliant.”
The ‘Monopoly Gold’ Instant Win Game is currently available to play on the National Lottery app. It costs £2.50 to play and offers a 1 in 2.28 overall chance of winning a prize.
