A married couple from Cardiff are planning on making their Lotto win truly life changing. Childminders Michelle and Barrie Fender plan to spend part of their windfall on private treatment for Barrie, who suffers with a chronic lung condition.
Celebrating at Penarth Pier Michelle revealed how she had become a millionaire. "I just couldn’t believe it at first. I shouted for my children to come down and check that I was right, but they couldn’t understand a word I was saying and thought something had happened to Barrie."
Once sure they had won, Michelle and Barrie – who have three grown up children – told their close family and friends the good news, and started planning for the future.
Michelle said, "The first thing that came to all of our minds was that we could finally afford private treatment for Barrie. He’s been suffering with chronic sarcoidosis for over eight years now, and whilst the NHS has been great, we can now visit a sarcoidosis specialist in London."
The couple also plan on buying the council house that they live in, and have already ordered an Audi, Barrie’s dream car. As far as holidays go, Michelle and Barrie plan on treating the whole family to a trip to Florida, and will buy themselves a new caravan to enjoy holidays closer to home.
