Paper turns to gold
A syndicate of paper mill operators turned a tiny slip of paper into millions of pounds, a trick which has changed all five of their lives.
The little pink ticket was for the giant Lotto Triple Rollover draw and turned out to be worth £2,950,302, giving each of the five a magical £590,000.
Despite their win the syndicate all loyally turned up to work at the close knit firm. Syndicate leader Gary Smith said, "We were all back straight away due to the workload! The company is quite short staffed at the moment so we didn't want to just take time off or walk away because of our win. I have worked at the mill for 26 years and have a real close affinity with the company."
Gary added: "We have had a few small wins but nothing like this. It actually still doesn't seem real. I think we are all still numb. It has all been just like a dream – and I still keep thinking I will wake up and none of this will really have happened."
