Lotto win puts Grimsby couple in pole position

Sarah Savill, and her husband Marcus, celebrating on a winner's podium, said, "We've followed Formula One for a number of years and you could describe us as fanatics. We've been fortunate enough to travel across Europe to see the Grand Prix in Spain, Italy and Germany, as well as England, but we have never been able to afford to go to Abu Dhabi – somewhere we have always dreamt about going to but never believed would become a reality."

It was double luck for Sarah, who plays The National Lottery online, after she won a free Lotto Lucky Dip ticket when she matched two numbers in a previous draw. It was this free Lucky Dip ticket which led to Sarah’s big win.

Sarah, who works as a workshop administrator at a local shipping company, said, "I had just got into work when I received an email on my phone from The National Lottery asking me to sign in to my account and that they had good news about my ticket."

"I thought I had perhaps won another Lucky Dip or, if I was really lucky, perhaps £25. When I saw the five figure number, I could not believe it! I checked the numbers again and again, counting every digit."

She broke the news to Marcus, who works for another shipping firm as a port operative, at lunch. "Marcus isn't allowed to take phone calls at work so I couldn't tell him until lunch time. I think he was a bit worried because I wouldn't normally call him during the day. When I eventually told him, he thought it was all a joke. Only now is it starting to sink in."

As well as the dream trip to Abu Dhabi the couple's spending plans include a top of the range hot tub for their garden and a new motorbike for Marcus.
