From Chris and Rosie Ramsey to Sophie Ellis Bextor, Jessie Ware and broadcaster Fearne Cotton, we’re working with the hosts of the nation’s top podcasts to bring you stories about ordinary people doing amazing things with National Lottery funding. Your ticket unlocks incredible audio experiences.
Chris and Rosie Ramsey (hosts of the Sh**ged, Married, Annoyed podcast) visit Redcar in Yorkshire to get the lowdown on Footprints in the Community, an incredible project that’s changing lives with support from The National Lottery. It helps local families in need via a foodbank, a community cafe and the First Steps project which provides pre-loved babies and children’s clothing.
In a special episode of her Spinning Plates podcast, Sophie chats with Sam Dabb, manager of Newport grassroots music venue Le Pub. You’ll hear some great rock ‘n’ roll yarns and learn what it takes to keep the doors open and the music playing.
Meanwhile, Fearne chats to wheelchair racer Melanie Woods in an episode of the Happy Place podcast. You’ll hear how Melanie’s life changed forever when a car struck her from behind and left her paralysed – and how she navigated the journey of coming to terms with being disabled to competing on a world stage at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
Alternatively, you can tune in to hear Jessie Ware and her mum Lennie discuss food and football with football legends Ellen White and Lyn Hale on the hugely popular Table Manners podcast. Find out how women’s football has changed since Lyn played in the first women's international football match in 1972 after the FA reversed their ban on women playing, right the way through to Ellen’s experience as a Euro 2022 winner and becoming England women’s top goal scorer of all time. Hear what a difference funding (or lack of, in Lyn’s case) can make to support people’s sporting dreams and maybe even feel inspired to go and have a kick about yourself…
We’ll be partnering with more amazing podcasts in the near future - so stay tuned! And remember: your ticket unlocks unique audio experiences!
